Thomas Pink: The Art of British Dressing

A Modern Expression of British Style

Thomas Pink has always had a distinctive place within British menswear. Known for its beautifully crafted shirts and unmistakable approach to colour and pattern, the brand has built a reputation around taking traditional English dressing and giving it personality.

That character was on full display at its London Collections Men presentation, where CARRO was there to capture the collection and the atmosphere surrounding it.

Presented at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, the collection created an intriguing contrast between Thomas Pink’s heritage and a more relaxed, playful vision of contemporary menswear.

Classic pieces, reimagined

At the heart of the collection was the shirt, the foundation of Thomas Pink’s identity.

Rather than treating shirting as simply a formal essential, the collection explored how it could become one of the most expressive pieces in a man’s wardrobe. Checks, stripes, bold patterns and colourful fabrics brought energy to familiar silhouettes, while the styling gave traditional pieces a more relaxed feel.

A cotton madras-print shirt stood out alongside checked jackets, straight-leg chinos and classic separates, creating a wardrobe that felt unmistakably British but far from predictable.

There was an effortless quality to the clothes. Tailoring was softened by casual pieces, while colour and pattern prevented the looks from becoming overly conservative.

The Thomas Pink gentleman

The collection captured an idea of British style that is difficult to define but instantly recognisable.

It was smart without being overly formal, colourful without becoming theatrical and traditional without feeling stuck in the past.

The clothes suggested a man who understands the rules of classic dressing but isn’t afraid to bend them. A tailored jacket could be worn with more relaxed trousers; a statement shirt could become the focus of an otherwise understated look; traditional checks and stripes could be combined in unexpected ways.

It was this balance between refinement and individuality that gave the collection its appeal.

A setting with personality

The presentation itself reflected the character of the clothes.

A botanical backdrop created an atmospheric setting for the collection, drawing inspiration from Peter Schlesinger’s famous photograph of David Hockney and Cecil Beaton. The setting helped reinforce the collection’s celebration of Britain’s more eccentric and charming side.

Against this backdrop, the clothes felt at home; elegant, colourful and distinctly English, but with a sense of humour and spontaneity.

CARRO behind the lens

For CARRO, the presentation provided an opportunity to capture the details that make a fashion collection memorable.

The photographs reveal the character of the clothing beyond the individual pieces: the way patterns work together, the movement of the garments, the contrast between tailoring and casualwear, and the small styling details that give each look its personality.

There is also a strong sense of atmosphere within the images. The botanical setting, the presentation space and the collection itself come together to create a visual story around the Thomas Pink aesthetic.

For a photographer, these are the moments that make a fashion presentation particularly interesting, not simply documenting what was worn but capturing the mood and identity behind the clothes.

British, but never predictable

Thomas Pink’s collection demonstrated that British menswear could embrace tradition without being defined by it.

The craftsmanship and attention to detail associated with the brand remained central, but colour, pattern and relaxed styling brought a fresh energy to the wardrobe.

The result was a collection that felt confident and distinctly individual, a celebration of classic British dressing with the volume turned up.

Through CARRO’s photographs, that spirit remains captured: Thomas Pink at London Collections Men, where traditional shirtmaking, colour, pattern and contemporary British style came together in one of London’s most creative settings.
