CIMONE: The Art of Exaggeration

Structure Meets Playfulness

CIMONE’s collection at Fashion Scout explored fashion as a meeting point between structure and playfulness, combining exaggerated proportions with unexpected colour, tactile surfaces and an unmistakable sense of movement. Under the creative direction of Carli Pearson, the London-based label brought together couture-level construction and a more relaxed, sportswear-inspired attitude. Pearson’s background at houses including Stella McCartney, Alexander Wang, Emilio Pucci and McQ Alexander McQueen is reflected in the collection’s confident approach to silhouette and fabrication. CIMONE’s design language is ambitious but never static, balancing precision with experimentation and allowing garments to shift as the wearer moves.

A Canvas of White

The collection opened with a striking sense of restraint. Cream and white dominated the early looks, creating a clean canvas for the more expressive elements that followed. Sportswear-inspired fabrics and relaxed silhouettes gave these opening pieces an effortless quality, while oversized forms introduced the exaggerated proportions that became central to the collection. Rather than relying on traditional figure-hugging shapes, CIMONE allowed garments to sit away from the body, creating volume and movement while maintaining a carefully controlled silhouette.

Colour as a Statement

Against the muted foundation, colour arrived in vivid flashes. Coral, bottle green, navy, red and tangerine appeared through stripes, paint-like splashes and graphic accents. The contrast gave the collection a distinctly energetic quality, transforming otherwise restrained silhouettes into something more expressive. The use of colour felt almost painterly. Reports from the collection describe swirling motifs inspired by open paint tins, alongside splashes of colour across garments and accessories. White makeup was also used to echo this artistic language, extending the concept beyond the clothing itself.

Texture

The collection also demonstrated a fascination with manipulating familiar materials. Coarse textures were contrasted with glossy plastics, while light silks were placed against heavier, more utilitarian elements. Intricate laser-cut circles appeared across layers of dresses and jackets, revealing contrasting colours beneath the surface. This approach gave the clothing a sense of depth. Garments were not simply decorated; their construction became part of the visual language, with layers, openings, textures and embellishment revealing something different as the wearer moved.

The Beauty of Contrast

The beauty direction reinforced the collection’s artistic character. Thick white pigment across the eyebrows created an unusual, almost surreal effect, echoing the paint-inspired references within the clothing. It was another example of CIMONE treating the entire runway presentation as a cohesive visual composition rather than simply presenting individual garments. Fashion, styling, colour and movement worked together to create an atmosphere that felt playful while remaining highly considered.

Confidence Through Silhouette

There was an underlying confidence to the collection that came through most strongly in its proportions. CIMONE avoided conventional ideas of femininity, instead allowing the female silhouette to be enlarged, extended and distorted through fabric and construction. The result was powerful without relying on traditional tailoring alone. The collection demonstrated how exaggerated shapes can create presence while still retaining movement and wearability: a balance that became an important part of CIMONE’s emerging design identity.

CARRO Studio Behind the Lens

CARRO Studio’s photography captures the collection at the point where construction becomes movement. The dramatic proportions, graphic colour combinations and tactile details lend themselves particularly well to high-resolution fashion photography, where the relationship between garment and silhouette can be explored frame by frame. From the clean white opening looks to the vibrant flashes of coral, navy and green, the imagery preserves the contrasts that defined CIMONE’s collection: precision and playfulness, sportswear and eveningwear, softness and structure. CIMONE’s collection demonstrated the possibilities that emerge when traditional craftsmanship is approached with a sense of curiosity. Exaggerated proportions, painterly colour, unconventional embellishment and contrasting fabrics created a collection that felt energetic and individual. Yet beneath the experimentation was a strong understanding of construction and silhouette. For CARRO Studio, it was precisely this combination that made CIMONE so compelling to photograph: clothing designed not simply to be seen, but to move, transform and reveal something new from every angle.
