The New Masculine

Astrid Andersen has become known for redefining the relationship between sportswear and luxury, and this collection pushed that idea into a more opulent and theatrical direction. Her menswear combined the familiar language of tracksuits, basketball and street culture with rich fabrics, elaborate textures and references to traditional masculine dressing.

Sportswear, Reimagined

The tracksuit remained at the heart of the collection, but Andersen transformed it through luxurious materials. Velvet appeared in deep plum, burgundy and rich caramel tones, while patterned silk was used for relaxed trousers, tops and robe-like silhouettes. The result was sportswear that felt less utilitarian and much more considered. This contrast between comfort and extravagance became one of the strongest features of the collection. Familiar hoodies and athletic shapes were elevated through fabrication, creating garments that could move between streetwear and something far more formal.

Opulence and Masculinity

Andersen’s starting point was the idea of masculine opulence; a time when menswear embraced abundance, decoration and extravagance. She brought that spirit into a contemporary wardrobe through fur-trimmed outerwear, gold detailing, velvet, corduroy and elaborate patterned fabrics. The collection had a distinctly regal quality. Deep navy, bottle green, burgundy, bronze and golden tones gave the clothes richness, while leopard print and feathers introduced a more flamboyant edge. The use of feathers as individual accessories around the ear was particularly striking, adding a slightly romantic and eccentric touch to the styling.

Tradition Meets the Street

Andersen also explored the meeting point between British heritage and contemporary urban culture. Flat caps, created in collaboration with New Era, were worn alongside tracksuits, trainers and statement sunglasses. The combination made traditional menswear references feel youthful and unexpected. It was this mixture that gave the collection its personality. Nothing felt completely formal or completely casual. Tailoring-inspired shapes, sporting references and lavish fabrics were allowed to exist together, creating a new kind of masculine wardrobe.

CARRO Studio Behind the Lens

For CARRO Studio, the collection offered a wealth of photographic detail. The richness of the velvet, the movement of patterned silk, the texture of fur and the distinctive accessories all became important elements of the visual story. Photography also captures something that a static lookbook cannot: the attitude of the clothes in motion. The relaxed silhouettes and oversized outerwear take on another character as the models walk, while details such as the hats, sunglasses and feather accents become part of the overall expression. CARRO Studio’s photographs preserve that meeting of luxury and street culture; documenting a collection that was as much about attitude as it was about fabric and construction.

Astrid Andersen demonstrated that sportswear can carry the same sense of craftsmanship, drama and sophistication traditionally associated with formal menswear. By introducing velvet, silk, fur, lace and rich embellishment into athletic silhouettes, she created a wardrobe that felt both comfortable and extravagant. The collection was confident in its contradictions: urban but romantic, sporty but luxurious, contemporary but influenced by the grandeur of the past. Through CARRO Studio’s lens, those contrasts become especially visible, capturing the individuality and richness that made Astrid Andersen’s menswear so distinctive.
